We have had a great start to the school year in Year 4. It has been lovely getting to know the children and they have been impressing me with their positive attitudes to their learning. 

In English, we have been looking at the story ‘Weslandia’ which is about a little boy called Wesley who is different to other children and creates his own civilisation to try and fit in. The children have created their own civilisations that include their favourite or newly invented sports and music.

The children have been learning all about the Amazon rainforest. In Geography, we have learnt about the four layers of the rainforest and who lives there. In Art, we have created mood boards and abstract drawings inspired by rainforest animals.

In PSHE, we have been looking at how we can make healthy choices. We played a relay game to sort habits and choices into ‘energy givers’ and ‘energy takers’.

It has been a busy but brilliant start to the year. I am really looking forward to what is ahead, and I hope the children are too!
