Ready, Settled, Go! A Wonderfully Positive Start for Our Newest Learners

Our EYFS pupils have only been in school for a matter of weeks and they have already achieved so much! Since starting at school, there have been strong friendships forged, high ambitions set and a love of learning shown.

Each afternoon, the children take part in Enquiry-Based Learning. Through this, they choose the direction of the lessons. Every child has thought up their own array of brilliant 'I wonder...' statements which have been grouped together to shape the year. So far we have been learning about the weather through such 'wonderings' as "I wonder how clouds are made", "I wonder why it rains" and "I wonder where the wind comes from." To help us find answers, we have created our own investigations. These have included making and catching clouds, testing the power of the wind, making kites and playing with the parachute.

To be able to achieve any of this, the children have needed to work together and listen to each other's ideas. This is something they demonstrate very well. Being able to build on each other's ideas is an important skill which we look forward to using as we find out more about our world.
