It has been a busy and exciting few weeks in Year 2! The children have been enjoying exploring new ideas, solving problems and getting creative with their learning. Take a look at some of the fantastic learning we have been getting up to in Maths and Design Technology.
In Maths, we have been exploring place value and developing our understanding of the value of numbers up to 100. We have enjoyed using lots of hands-on resources and maths games to help us explore numbers in different ways.
The children particularly enjoyed completing our hundred square, representing numbers using Base 10, partitioned numbers, written numbers and tally marks. It has been fantastic to see the children becoming more confident at recognising that numbers can be represented in lots of different ways.
In DT, we have been exploring strength and stability as we prepare to build a chair for Baby Bear! The children have investigated what makes structures strong and stable and have been thinking carefully about how different materials and designs can be used.
The children are now putting their ideas into practice as they design and build their own chairs for Baby Bear. We are looking forward to seeing their finished creations!
We were incredibly proud of the children during our Harvest Festival. They were brilliant with their speaking parts and sang beautifully throughout the service. They represented Year 2 wonderfully! We would also like to say a huge thank you to all of our families who donated food for the food bank. Your generosity and support are greatly appreciated and will make a real difference to families in our local community.
It has been a fantastic start to our learning, and we are so proud of the children's enthusiasm, creativity and hard work!
