“Preparing the way…”

Our Church School

Our Church School holds a strong Christian ethos whereby every child is valued and encouraged to work to their individual potential and urged to explore their own intellectual curiosity. Children feel secure, happy and assured within the school setting and know that they will always have support from friends and staff regardless of the choices they make due to the high level of mutual empathy.

RE is recognised by all (Pupils, Teaching staff, Governors, Visitors) as a priority in the life of the school. We come together through a shared vision which encourages staff and children to want to embrace change and move forward in the journey together. Religious Education is an integral part of the whole school curriculum and can be seen in many different forms throughout the school.  By delivering a broad and exciting curriculum immersed in a balance between the traditional and the modern and the abstract and the practical, children embrace all aspects of education with RE at the centre.

Across the school community great value is placed on collective worship; its place in school life and its impact on individuals. It continues to be a vital part of our school day and allows pupils to embed sound knowledge and understanding of our diverse world with a clear focus still on Christianity.

Our School Values are embedded across the school and celebrated in every aspect of the school day. Pupils understand the school values and how following the values will help them be good people and serve God.

Collective Worship

In our school, every pupil and adult is welcomed to join collective worship in a way that reflects their own religious or spiritual journey. Rooted in the traditions of the Church of England, we invite everyone to participate and work hard to ensure everyone feels included. Our collective worship provides a safe space for everyone in our school community to reflect on their own spiritual, religious and philosophical convictions. We encourage everyone to flourish spiritually by challenging preconceptions and encouraging curiosity. We hope that collective worship provides a source of inspiration for our pupils; as such, it is an essential part of ‘preparing the way’ for their futures. We see collective worship as an integral part of the thriving of our school community.

Our collective worship is structured using the Roots and Fruits materials. We have adapted these to ensure they are structured around our vision drivers. This is so that we can be confident that the collective worship we offer fits the context of our school community.

The materials are organised in a two-year cycle:
